Factory I/O 2.4.0 released

Factory I/O 2.4.0 includes shareable cloud licenses, redesigned OPC DA & UA drivers as well as many bug fixes, enhancements and new features.

Factory I/O 2.4.0 released

Attention

Factory I/O v2.4.0 uses a redesigned licensing system which offers seamless integration of standalone and floating licenses. After updating to v2.4.0, previous versions will no longer be able to find standalone licenses since these will be automatically migrated to v2.4.0. Additionally, legacy cloud licenses and on-premise license servers are now deprecated.

If you haven’t migrated your legacy floating licenses (cloud or on-premise), please contact us before updating to Factory I/O v2.4.0. Legacy floating licenses will not work out of the box on v2.4.0. Learn more about licenses here.

Shareable Licenses

Starting with Factory I/O v2.4.0, legacy floating licenses (on-premise and cloud) are replaced by a redesigned cloud-based licensing system which is more robust, flexible and easier to use.

Each license can now be used as a standalone or floating license. This means that you can choose how to use your license pool without extra configuration steps. For example, from a pool of 10 licenses you can use 2 as standalone licenses and the rest as floating licenses.

You can now give access to your license pool by using a Share Code (floating licenses only). This means that only users who know the current Share Code are allowed to use licenses. The license owner can change the Share Code at any time, which returns all floating licenses to the license pool. This is a great way to share licenses with students!

On-premise license servers and old cloud license files are now deprecated. You will still be able to use legacy on-premise license servers on v2.4.0, but we highly encourage you to move to the new cloud licenses since we will not be able to provide maintenance updates for license servers in the future. Migrating to cloud licenses is free of charge and it won’t require any intervention from you.

If you still prefer to use on-premise license servers, please contact us and we will send you instructions on how to set up your license server and Factory I/O v2.4.0 installation.

Monthly Subscription Plan

Due to high demand, Factory I/O is now also available on a monthly subscription plan (Automgen, MHJ and Starter editions not included). Subscription plans include free support, updates and access to all releases for the subscription period. One-time payment includes free support, updates and access to all releases of Factory I/O 2.x.
